The key area for gold today is at 4580. Above this area, our idea of keeping low and long for rebound last week remains unchanged. If it can break through 4680 today, bulls are expected to further open up the upside space, and they can further focus on 4750 and 4780! However, if it falls below the 4580 area, the one-hour structure will peak and turn short, and there is a high probability that a new band of short positions will be opened!
It is now 9:30 in the morning, and the market price remains at 4620!
Gold jumped short and opened lower this morning, once bottoming out and testing the 4600 level. You should also know what is going on. This is mainly due to the negative performance of non-agricultural data last Friday night.
The number of non-farm payrolls announced last week exceeded expectations by 178,000 in March. The strong expectations of the data have made the market bet that the Federal Reserve will maintain high interest rates for a longer period of time this year, and the probability of a rate cut in June has also dropped to 2%. There was only one interest rate cut throughout the year, and some officials from the Federal Reserve even began to discuss raising interest rates. This weakened the core logic that drove gold's mid- to long-term bullishness in the past!
But fortunately, there are many factors that affect the trend of gold.
For example, the geopolitical situation in the Middle East is currently tense and turbulent. Whether Trump’s ultimatum will trigger a year-round war in the Middle East will be known after tomorrow. Therefore, the turmoil in the geopolitical situation still plays a supporting role in gold.
Looking at the financial aspect, global gold ETFs and domestic ETFs have had varying degrees of inflows in recent days, but the magnitude is not large, indicating that the bullish intention is more cautious!
Generally speaking, the current gold market is quite divided between long and short, and the market is no longer as bullish as it was last year.The market is emotionally resonant. Especially after the U.S. dollar strengthens and the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy becomes more hawkish! It is difficult for gold to reach new heights in the short term!
As I just said, 4580 is the key point during the day. Above this area, it is only regarded as the technical rebound demand during the day. In the follow-up, after this round of rebound ends and the top structure is built in one hour, I will participate in the swing short position. I have repeated this idea for two weeks!
