Basic news
On Friday (June 27), the US dollar index was around 97.35; spot gold maintained a sharp decline in the day, and the current gold price is around $3,295 per ounce. On this trading day, investors will focus on US PCE inflation data, which will inevitably trigger a major market trend.
At 20:30 Beijing time on Friday, the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis will announce the personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index for May.
Authoritative media survey showed that the annual rate of the US PCE price index is expected to rise by 2.3% in May, following an increase of 2.1% in April.
In terms of core indicators that have attracted more attention, the annual rate of the US core PCE price index is expected to grow by 2.6% in May, following an increase of 2.5% in April. Analysts pointed out that if U.S. PCE inflation data, especially core indicators, fall short of expectations, the dollar may suffer a blow, driving other major non-U.S. currencies to rise.
As the Fed's most favored inflation indicator, the year-on-year changes in the core PCE price index have a great impact on policy makers.
The U.S. Economic Calendar will release the May PCE price index on Friday. In a press conference after last week's meeting, Fed Chairman Powell said they expect PCE and core PCE inflation rates to be 2.3% and 2.6% in May, respectively. If the core PCE rises below expectations, it may hurt the US dollar in the short term.

U.S. dollar index
The dollar index once tested 96.99, and then rebounded. The downward trend is expected to be limited to 96. Overall, the near-term interval 99-96 may last for some time. US PCE and personal income data are scheduled to be released today.
Euro/USD
Euro/USD once rose to a high of 1.1745, and then fell. Only by decisively breaking through 1.17 can the exchange rate rise to 1.18-1.20; otherwise, as long as the above resistance cannot be overcome, we still believe that the exchange rate will fall to 1.15 in the next few trading days.
Euro/JPY
We originally expected the euro/JPY to test 170, but the result started to fall from 169.40. As long as it is below 170, the pair may easily fall back to 168-166 in the short term. If it breaks through 170, the 175 resistance level may be taken into account.
Dollar/JPY
Dollar/JPY hoveres above the support level near 144. As long as you hold this position, the exchange rate may try to rebound to 146-148 in the short term. Overall, the short-term range 144-148 may last for a while.
U.S./RMB
U.S./RMB needs to achieve a decisive breakthrough towards any end of the range 7.20-7.17/16 in order to further clarify the direction.
AUD/USD
AUD/USD is heading towards a resistance near 0.66, which may be tested soon. After that, it remains to be seen whether the upward trend will further extend or the range of 0.66-0.645/35 will continue.
GBP/USD
GBP/USD is rising, consistent with our view that if a breakthrough of 1.38 is confirmed, the exchange rate may continue to rise to 1.40. Short-term support is at 1.36.
