The British pound recorded a steady increase on Friday, with an increase of 0.41%, after an announcement by the United States and the United Kingdom on Thursday that a trade agreement was reached. However, the Bank of England (BoE) cuts interest rates to limit its gains, but the pair is still trading around 1.33, after rebounding from a daily low of 1.3211.
The pound/dollar rose as the trade deal boosted sentiment, although the Bank of England’s dovish tone was offset by weakness in the dollar and cautious Fed’s remarks.
U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Kiel Stamer have announced a bilateral trade agreement that maintains 10% tariffs on Trump's exports to the UK but opens up markets for both countries. The news restricted the decline of GBP/USD after the Bank of England decided to cut interest rates by 25 basis points (bps) on a tripartite vote, with seven of nine officials supporting the rate cut, but two of them supporting the rate cut by 50 basis points. On the hawkish side, there are two members.
Earlier, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said the trade deal was good, although he pointed out that most UK exports remained at 10% tariffs, a level higher than last month.

GBP/USD Price Forecast: Technical Outlook
GBP/USD maintains an upward bias, although it is expected to approach the opening price this week, indicating a balance between buyers and sellers. Momentum is still bullish, as shown by the Relative Strength Index (RSI), but the price moves the opposite. Despite no divergence, buyers need to regain 1.3400 in order to form a higher high and have the opportunity to test the annual high of 1.3443. On further strength, the next resistance level is 1.35.
In contrast, if GBP/USD remains below 1.3300, the first support is 1.3250, followed by a daily low of 1.3211.
