The price of gold fell for the second consecutive day, and traders erased the gains of gold on Tuesday, causing it to rise by more than $3,400. The announcement of the U.S.-UK trade agreement has increased the U.S. dollar (USD), which has adversely affected gold (XAU/USD), and is currently trading at $3,311, down more than 1.60%.
Optimistic market sentiment has put pressure on gold prices, which have almost dropped 4% in the past two days. Trade deals announced by U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Kiel Stamer have improved market sentiment, and traders seem to be confident that the U.S. can reach more deals. In terms of data, the U.S. economic schedule shows that the labor market remains stable, which has relieved the Federal Reserve and kept interest rates unchanged on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said he is not in a hurry to lower interest rates.
On Friday, numerous Fed officials will attract attention after the dark period ahead of the May 7 monetary policy meeting.
